da bet vitoria: Back in August, The Telegraph reported that Tottenham Hotspur had made a bid worth up to £25 million for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish.
What went down?
Spurs were linked with the Villans’ talismanic No. 10 throughout the summer, but didn’t approach the Championship outfit with a formal bid until close to the summer transfer deadline. Ultimately, it proved too little too late, and the Premier League side were unable to prise Grealish away from Villa Park.
Although the Midlands outfit are his boyhood club and he is proud to represent them, Grealish later admitted to being disappointed that his summer move to Spurs failed to materialise, as reported by The Telegraph.

Spurs, meanwhile, failed to sign anyone in the summer, becoming the first side to make no summer additions in the Premier League era.
What might have been?
Despite their transfer inactivity, Spurs have enjoyed a fine campaign so far. Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table, six points off top spot. The north London club also managed to emerge from a difficult Champions League group, at the expense of Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven.
Grealish, meanwhile, has been solid for Villa in the second tier without really shining. However, the appointment of Dean Smith ought to give his game a boost.
Had he joined Spurs in the summer it’s unlikely he’d have been a regular starter in the Premier League. However, he would probably have developed as a player to a far greater extent than he has with Villa in the meantime.
On top of that, Pochettino would likely have been appreciative of the additional depth that the young Englishman would have provided. All in all, though, the collapse of this summer move has proved a bigger blow to Grealish than Spurs.
