da cassino online: Football legend Pele has launched a scathing attack on Diego Maradona, criticising his management of Argentina in response to some heated words the pair have been exchanging in recent months. Maradona and Pele have had a history of public fallings out in the past but seemed to have settled their differences in recent years; however this latest outburst from Pele looks set to keep the rift re-ignited for a while longer.
This argument all started last month when Pele publicly said that Maradona had only taken the Argentina job because he needed the money and not because of his desire. The Argentine then hit back by saying that Pele ‘belonged in a museum’, Pele has now blamed Maradona’s previous troubles on the reason as to why he cannot manage his country.
Pele said: “He is not a good coach, because he had a bizarre lifestyle which cannot go down well with his team.”
It is true that Maradona has had a bad private life, with cocaine addiction, alcoholism and weight gain dominating a lot of the news surrounding him. He also suffered a heart attack as a result of this abuse but since then he has turned his life around and apparently has quit drinking and drugs permanently. Whilst he won’t be remembered as being a role model he was a fantastic player and that shouldn’t be forgotten, and between him and Pele they are the best two players to ever grace the game.
Despite Argentina scraping through their South American qualifying group, a notable highlight was their 6-1 loss to Bolivia. Prior to the tournament he also raised a lot of eyebrows by leaving out players like Esteban Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti from his squad. However once it came to the tournament this was all forgotten about as Argentina played with a lot of flair and guile under Maradona, the spirit in the camp seemed good with players seen arriving to games signing and full of joy with no ill effect whatsoever amongst themselves or towards the manager. Whether or not Argentina had a good World Cup is questionable, as despite looking good in previous games they were thrashed 4-0 by Germany in the quarter-finals. Although this German side is very strong, a team like Argentina should not lose so heavily to a side that on paper are at the very least equal to.
Maradona is believed to be strongly considering his resignation after Argentina’s elimination, despite the players wishing for him to stay on and the public opinion in Argentina echoing these sentiments. It is questionable as to whether another manager could have done better with Argentina, as you would argue that someone more experienced would have recognised Germany’s counter-attacking threat prior to their game and wouldn’t have left themselves to exposed. However it is difficult to give a definitive answer on the matter.
Do you think Maradona did a good job with Argentina?
