The midfielder has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit this term, although he hasn’t featured in either the Premier League or Champions League in 2018, with his only appearances this year coming in the FA Cup, where he hasn’t impressed the Wembley faithful with his displays.
The report adds that the Argentine boss has tried to protect the youngster and not rush him back into action too quickly in order to protect him from making the issue even worse, but a lack of game time will also hamper his chances of being named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in June.
Winks exploded onto the international scene with a brilliant display on his Three Lions debut against Lithuania in October, and he will be waiting to see if he gets the call-up for the two friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy later this month or if the persistent ankle problem sees him miss out.
