da poker: Shane Long has not had the most prolific of seasons at Southampton this term.
da gbg bet: The forward has found the back of the net just once in the Premier League in 16 performances, 10 of which were starts.
The goal came recently, though, as the Irishman struck in Saints’ 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on January 2.
This afternoon, during a league clash against Watford at Vicarage Road, Southampton drew first blood, and even though Long was not the man to strike, he played a major role in the goal.
The 30-year-old had the ball at the byline before cutting it back to find James Ward-Prowse, who slotted it home in the 20th minute.
Long has received criticism throughout the campaign for his failings in front of goal, but on this occasion, he was showered with praise by fans on Twitter for his work-rate.
The coastal club headed into the match just one place above the relegation zone after failing to win a game since November.
