da mrbet: As reported by The Evening Times, Patrick Roberts believes playing and performing for Celtic can help him realise his dream of being selected for the English national team.
What’s the story?
da casino: Roberts’ return to Celtic this summer was one of the longest-running sagas of the transfer window with his parent club Manchester City seemingly holding out on sanctioning the move, despite the player’s desire to return North of the border.
Some in England may raise their eyebrows when they see him return for a third season to the Scottish Premiership but the player himself believes there is no better place for him to be plying his trade right now.
He even thinks that it’s the perfect environment to realise both his and his family’s dream of the winger pulling on an England shirt.
As quoted by The Evening Times, Roberts said:
Internationals are every other month and it’s how you perform for your club. I want a consistent season, playing well, scoring goals and enjoying my football. Of course, I’m English and my dad, mum and brother would love me to play for England. That is obviously the dream, to play for the senior team. I can only do that by performing week in, week out and for me the best place to do that is at Celtic, to learn here and improve here and that can hopefully take me onto the international stage.
While Hoops fans aren’t likely to be cheering on Gareth Southgate’s team anytime soon, they’ll still be pleased to hear comments like these as they show a real desire to improve and ambition to reach the very top of the game, all while playing at Celtic Park.
If Roberts can shine in the club’s UEFA Champions League matches then perhaps that England call-up may be closer than anyone thinks.
