Having been rested for the victory over Newcastle, James was brought back in by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against the Clarets at Turf Moor. And boy did he not disappoint. As per Sofascore, the winger won a total off 11 duels, was fouled five times and created one big chance to go along with his assist in the dying minutes of the contest. And after seeing his performance, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the Welshman.
Some United fans were quick to compare James to Arsenal’s summer signing Nicolas Pepe, with suggestions that they had certainly gotten the better player.
A few supporters of the Manchester side praised James’ mentality in the particular, claiming that even despite getting the rough treatment from Burnley’s players, he always kept getting back up again.
At only £15m, James is increasingly looking like one of the bargain finds of the summer. If United can continue to pull off deals like this over the foreseeable future, the need for big-money spending becomes far less necessary.
Meanwhile, Man Utd’s swoop for this starlet could spell bad news for one of their own prospects.
