Leeds United haven’t been promoted to the top-flight since 1990, when they won the old Second Division, and one man who was in that side is Vinnie Jones.
The footballer turned movie star didn’t stick around for too long after that, but Leeds would soon go on to taste unbelievable success under Howard Wilkinson, winning the league title in 1991/92 under his management.
The Whites now have the task of getting back to the Premier League after 16 years away from the top-division, and Jones believes that they will go on to do big things once they finally break through the glass ceiling.
What’s been said then?
Jones was speaking to The Sun, and he tipped United for success once they finally get out of the Championship.

“Once they get back to the Premier League, I don’t think there will be any stopping this club,” Jones said.
“I recently attended the Leeds’ centenary dinner and the reception I got from fans was unbelievable.
“There were a couple of club legends who probably thought I shouldn’t have been there but the reaction from fans put them in their place.
“Leeds are so close now and have a fantastic manager in Bielsa, who everybody seems to love.
“Back in 1990, we had a few blips but we got over the line.”
Infrastructure is there
Leeds need to get out of the Championship if Jones’ prediction is to ring true, but once they do they could be on an upward trajectory from there on in.
United have ambitious ideas for once they reach the top-flight, a new state of the art training ground is on the way, and there are also plans to expand Elland Road to a 50,000 seater.
Of course, there are also rumours of a takeover from either QSI or the San Francisco 49ers, and if either of those come to fruition the Yorkshire club will be able to compete financially with the biggest clubs in the country.
Jones’ prediction could well end up coming true.
In other news, Leeds have one viable option to fix a huge problem position.
