What’s the story?
da aviator aposta: Mata’s current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of next season meaning his situation at the club is becoming urgent. However, fans needn’t fear him leaving on a free transfer quite yet with the star apparently eager to get it all sorted out.
The Sun reckon the attacking midfielder, who currently earns £170,000-a-week with the club, is keen to sign a new long-term deal.
However, with the option of a further year on his current contract, the paper say that Manchester United themselves are relaxed about the situation and are in no rush to enter discussions.
The 29-year-old has been a stand-out at Old Trafford since his move from Chelsea in 2014, consistently reaching double figures in terms of goals in each of his full seasons since.
He’s become popular with supporters and they’ll be hoping any contract problems are sorted sooner rather than later given his importance to Jose Mourinho’s set-up.
