da betobet: Dejan Lovren made his first appearance of the season on Wednesday when he was named in Liverpool’s starting XI to take on Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
A pelvic issue has prevented the centre-back from playing, and he has not featured in a competitive fixture since he represented Croatia in the World Cup final against France.
It appears that Lovren is back to fitness as Klopp included the defender in a much-changed lineup for the visit of Chelsea to Anfield.
Liverpool had won all seven of their matches ahead of the cup tie, but they experienced their first defeat of the season against the Blues.
Maurizio Sarri’s side came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner in the 86th minute.
Lovren looked rusty in the early stages of the match but he communicated well with Joel Matip in the heart of the defence.
Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have been the first-choice pairing since the season kicked off, and if fitness permitting they are likely to be in the first XI when Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in a league encounter.
However, is now the time to throw Lovren back into the mix?
