da bet vitoria: Yaya Toure has quickly settled into his new role at Manchester City after signing from Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
da marjack bet: The Ivorian was often described as a midfield destroyer during his time at the Catalonian club, and as a highly defensive player. However, since moving to Manchester City, Toure has been employed as a box-to-box midfielder with both the player and his new employers reaping the rewards.
Toure has already scored three league goals and created four in assists. His performance against West Ham in early December when City won 3-1 away from home is a perfect example of the role he is playing for his new club, where he bagged one goal and forced an own goal.
City’s number 42 also spoke of his delight at playing in a new role following his side’s win over the Hammers, “I enjoy the freedom of playing further forward and I am claiming two goals because it is the first time I have done that in one game,” Toure told Manchester City’s official website.
Toure is a player of enormous presence on the pitch, but he is more than just a midfield giant. Playing with the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta in Barcelona’s midfield has clearly rubbed off as he is a very skilled passer of the ball and comfortable to play the long and short ball.
In a City team that is full of height and strength, Toure too is a menace is his own penalty area as well as the opposition, his recent performances have proven that it would be foolish not to consider Toure as a threat to your goal.
Eyebrows were raised when news broke of Yaya Toure’s reported £24 million transfer to Manchester City, and with a wage close to £220,000. There is however, another way to view it. Consider the £26m reportedly spent on James Milner.
Now look at their records, what has Milner won at his previous clubs? Of course you do not compare the success of Aston Villa to Barcelona, but if you question the transfer fee of Toure, compared to Milner’s, and compare their achievements, it seems to make much more sense to buy the former Barca player. Common sense perhaps somewhat of a rarity at Manchester City it could be argued.
The news of Carlos Tevez withdrawing his transfer request will be a relief to all involved at Manchester City, his contribution will be vital for any title push. The experience and importance of Yaya Toure should however, not be underestimated this season and City will certainly need his legs to carry Roberto Mancini’s side through to the end of the campaign.
