da aposte e ganhe: FIFA have denied that plans have been made to hold the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the European winter.
da fezbet: After Qatar was awarded the hosting rights to football’s flagship event in December, focus has turned to whether the country’s oppressive heat in June and July warrants shifting the tournament to the beginning of the year.
Summer temperatures in Qatar often hover between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius, while the winter months provide far more comfortable conditions.
However, a change to the timing of the 2022 tournament could wreak havoc with fixtures across several domestic leagues.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said earlier this month that the 2022 World Cup is likely to be held in January, but football’s governing body clarified their position on Thursday, stressing that there are no official plans for a rescheduled tournament.
“At this stage there are no concrete plans to change the international match calendar,” a FIFA statement read.
“Any potential move of the 2022 Fifa World Cup from a summer to a winter period would have to be initiated by the football association of Qatar and would have to be presented to the FIFA executive committee.”
