da fazobetai: West Ham’s transfer window splurge on strikers paid instant dividends as they fired their way to a 3-1 win over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
da pinnacle: Victor Obinna scored twice while Robbie Keane netted on his debut to reignite the Hammers’ hopes of staying in the Premier League.
Want-away midfielder Charlie Adam scored for Blackpool but the Tangerines are quickly being dragged into the relegation battle and have now lost six of their last seven games.
Boss Ian Holloway started with Adam, despite the distraction of his deadline-day transfer speculation, striking up an exciting pairing with new signing Andy Reid in the centre of midfield.
Avram Grant gave a debut to new boy Keane in an attacking line-up, which began strongly.
Richard Kingson dived at full length to keep out a Frederic Piquionne header and got down quickly to turn away a miscued Craig Cathcart clearance that almost squeezed in at the near post.
But in the 26th minute the Ghanaian goalkeeper made a horrendous error to gift the visitors the lead. Blackpool failed to clear a dangerous ball into the box and, though Obinna shot tamely, Kingson let it slip through his fingers and over the line.
And 10 minutes later they were 2-0 up although no blame could be attached to Kingson this time. He made two point-blank saves to deny Obinna but the ball finally fell to Keane, who lashed it in from 10 yards.
Blackpool were thrown a lifeline in the 42nd minute thanks to another goalkeeping blunder. Robert Green was horribly out of position as Adam’s near post corner went straight into goal.
Within a minute Obinna restored a two-goal advantage for the visitors, arrowing a shot from 20 yards into the top corner.
Blackpool pegged back the visitors for large parts of the second half with James Beattie almost scoring with his first touch before fellow substitute Ian Evatt smacked a 22-yard free-kick against frame of the goal.
But they failed to breach the Hammers’ goal again as Grant’s men held out for the crucial three points.
