Manchester City are set for another window of big spending this summer, and they have identified an “exciting” £25m player as a target to replace a current starter, according to a report.
Long-serving City players set for summer exits
A number of Man City’s long-serving players, who have played vital roles in the success during the Pep Guardiola era, look like they could be heading for the exit door this summer, with the manager planning to reshape his squad.
Kevin De Bruyne’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, and there have been no updates suggesting the Belgian could pen a new deal, meaning Guardiola may have to bring in a replacement at the end of the season.
Kyle Walker, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, looks like he could also be set for a permanent departure, with the Italian side impressed by the right-back’s performances since arriving at the San Siro.

There have also been reports suggesting Ederson could be replaced in the summer, with the 31-year-old not at his usual standard this season, and there has now been a new update on who the Sky Blues could target.
According to a report from Spain, Man City are preparing to spend big again in the summer, and Guardiola believes Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia could be a quality addition to the squad.
The City boss is planning to rebuild his squad in the summer, and he is said to have identified a number of targets from La Liga, with Villarreal’s Alex Baena and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo also of interest.

Garcia impressing in La Liga
The Spaniard has started every match for Espanyol in La Liga this season, and he has impressed freelance scout Ben Mattinson, who dubbed him an “exciting” goalkeeper, while also likening him to Arsenal ‘keeper David Raya.
Mattinson has also stated the 23-year-old has ability in possession of the ball, which is an important quality for a goalkeeper to have in a Guardiola system.
Ederson has played a major role in City’s success over the past few years, but he hasn’t been at his best this season, receiving criticism from Jamie Carragher for his performance in the 3-2 loss against Real Madrid.
“Ederson’s been fantastic for Man City with the ball but in terms of being a goalkeeper, he’s cost them tonight and they needed him because he’s a really senior figure.”
A major overhaul of the City squad may be needed this summer, and if the Brazilian doesn’t improve between now and the end of the season, Garcia, who is valued at around £25m, could be a solid replacement.
