da doce: Chelsea legend and pundit Marcel Desailly has told talkSPORT that current Blues star Eden Hazard isn’t ready to join Real Madrid this summer.
da dobrowin: The Mirror reported on Tuesday that the La Liga giants are lining up a deal that could be worth £120m in total to take the Belgium international, who is one of the favourites to win the PFA Player of the Year award after a magnificent season in the Premier League, to Spain at the end of the campaign.
The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 29 top flight appearances for Antonio Conte’s side, who are at the summit and on the verge of reclaiming the title they lost to Leicester City in 2016 as they currently hold a seven-point advantage over second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
However, after suffering a disappointing 2015/16 campaign, Desailly has questioned whether the Belgian has the consistency or the right mentality to go and play at the Bernabeu, where he would be under more pressure and scrutiny to perform on a weekly basis than perhaps he is at Stamford Bridge.
The 48-year-old told talkSPORT: “I’m not sure he has that pretention of being that top player that will make him a first choice at Real Madrid.
“He’s been doing well but he’s not been doing what we’re expecting on scoring goals and being the equivalent of Cristiano Ronaldo, or Messi and Higuain.
“He’s on and off and I’m not sure he’s fully ready to change and take the risk.”
The Blues will look to move a step closer to the Premier League title when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, and they will need Hazard to continue the sparkling form he has shown this term if they are to pick up a positive result against former employee Jose Mourinho’s men.
