Following the conclusion of his contract at Rovers, he has now elected to move north to the Stadium of Light as the Black Cats seek to get out of the English third-tier on the fourth attempt.
Intriguingly, he has followed in the footsteps of his brother Jonny Evans, who featured for Sunderland on loan from Manchester United between 2006/07 to 2007/08 [This is Futbol].
